Film Transfer overview

Woodland Film Transfer's state of the art facility and professional technicians and engineers can transfer your films to your choice of analog or digital formats. Our process is completely digital, start to finish. Your films will receive professional attention and the utmost in care during their stay here. In addition to film transfer, we produce award winning television commercials and episodic television for local and national distribution, and use the same equipment for all. Top 10 reasons why you should trust Woodland with your memories.

  1. We use only name brand, data grade blank media. No 15 cent discs here - we only use name brand blank DVD's, miniDV's and Digital8 tapes.
  2. All transfer is monitored on both broadcast quality monitors as well as engineering test equipment.
  3. Our process is completely digital - start to finish. We have had a completely digital transfer system for over 7 years.
  4. Actual Authored DVD's done with professional software - not done in stand alone recorders. We use the same software used to author Hollywood blockbusters to ensure better compatibility - better quality.
  5. High end professional cameras used in the transfer - not consumer grade or even pro-sumer grade cameras. (The lenses we use cost more than most transfer houses entire systems)
  6. Extensive post production testing of DVD's to ensure quality and compatibility.
  7. 20 years of experience +.
  8. Full time operation - not back room or after hours.
  9. Honest pricing, no hidden charges or other surprises.
  10. Fast turnaround (No 4 to 6 week waits)
Now your family memories can be taken to a truly archival medium. DVD's have a lifetime of over 100 years, and now are priced so that extra copies can be put away for safe keeping. New technologies and an expansion of our facilities has allowed Woodland to take the price of film to DVD transfer to the lowest prices in the nation. 12 cents per foot includes cleaning, splice inspection, transfer and creation of a drop and play DVD. That's only 12 cents per foot period. No additional costs other than shipping fees. (Our $25 minimum per order still applies, however). Also, our DVD process is COMPLETELY DIGITAL, start to finish, using only broadcast grade equipment.
Additional options can be added for a Deluxe DVD, including menus, chapter stops, background music and other standard DVD features.

One note on film to DVD. We get asked the question occasionally as to whether or not you can edit the files on a DVD we produce. The answer is: not easily. It is possible to change the file names of the MPEG2 files and use utilities to edit them, however keep in mind that the compression on these files is up to 50 to 1. If you are looking to edit your home movies, it is better to go to a digital tape format such as miniDV or Digital8. The DV Compression ratio is fixed at 5 to 1, preserving more of the original material.
